Melanie Short Sanders, 61, of Stephens, Georgia, passed away on February 15, 2023. Born on August 20, 1961, she was the daughter of Beverly Foster Short and the late William C. Short.
Melanie worked for Commercial Bank for over 25 years, served on the Board of Education for many years and was the president of the Oglethorpe County Farm Bureau. Melanie had a strong devotion to the Lord and was heavily involved in the youth ministries and kitchen committee at Salem Baptist Church and various local and state wide organization. She was a woman of many talents, a wonderful wife, an excellent mother, to both her children and work family, and was loved by many.
Survivors include her husband, Phil Sanders; mother, Beverly Foster Short; children, Justin Sanders (Katlyn), Trevor Sanders (Kim), Maisie Carter (Jesse), Jillian Baylor (Walker); grandchildren, Riley and Elise Sanders, Leanna, William and Cole Sanders, Adelyn and Gunner Carter; sister, Becky Grant; mother and father-in-law, Lewis and Harriet Sanders; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 4:30 PM at Salem Baptist Church with Brett Mask and Brody Bearden officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Interment will follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Justin Sanders, Trevor Sanders, Walker Baylor, Jesse Carter, Stewart Sanders and Hudson Sanders.
