Evelyn Frances (Smith) Strickland

July 29, 1934 — August 18, 2022

Evelyn Frances Smith Strickland, 88, was born on July 29, 1934, in Whitehall, Georgia, and fell asleep in death on August 18, 2022.  She was married to James Thomas Strickland on December 18, 1953.  They were married for 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, Prentis and Ruby K Smith, son, Stacy Strickland, sister, Elaine Dantzler,  three granddaughters, Ruth and Lindsey and Brodie Huff,  grandson, O’Neal Strickland, son-in-law, Mike Brown and daughter in law Darlene Strickland.

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Carol (Tim) Hale and Cathy Brown; two sons, Barry (Julie) Strickland and Tommy Strickland; one sister, Eleanor Doster; two brothers, Jimmy Smith and Johnny (Jerrie) Smith; and many nieces, nephews,  19  grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren with one more in January. She loved them all very much.  She had many spiritual brothers and sisters and her door was always open to everyone.

Evelyn lived most of her life in Winterville, GA.  She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Winterville, GA and she was a faithful servant of Jehovah for over 73 years.

‘Her value is far more than that of corals.’

‘And she looks to the future with confidence.’

‘She opens her mouth with wisdom; the law of kindness is on her tongue.’

‘There are many capable women, But you—you surpass them all.’

‘But the woman who fears Jehovah will be praised.’ - Proverbs 31:10-31

Evelyn thought of everyone else before herself and was genuinely the most kind-hearted woman you would have ever known. Everything she did is what made Granny, Granny. Now she is in Jehovah’s memory, along with many others, that we look forward to seeing again very soon!
