Bogart, GA - Woodrow Wilson Bruce, Jr., "Woody", died January 1, 2015.
Born in Hattiesburg, MS, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Bruce, Sr. and Mary Beulah Neely Bruce.
Woody was a graduate of Clinch County High School where he was a multi letterman. He was a member of the USA High School Chorus and Theatre of the Stars. Woody had a lifelong love of music and theatre. He met his wife of 45 years, Nancy Merk Bruce at Rome Little Theatre where they played Lancelot and Guinevere in the musical, Camelot. Woody was a music evangelist and served as minister of music in a number of churches through the years. He was a devoted member of Beech Haven Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 4, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Beech Haven Baptist Church with Dr. David Mills officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dell Mills, Alan Parrish, Leonard Griffin, George Windate, Jerry Davis and
Daniel Lackey. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the J.W. Harris Sunday School Class.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his sons, Robert Perry Bruce and his wife, Joy of Harrisonburg, VA and Jody David Bruce and his wife, Angela of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Cannon, Lillian and Grace; brother, Dr. Neely Bruce and his wife Elena of Middletown, CT and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Beech Haven Baptist Church Building Fund or Covenant Care Services.
