Wilma E. Mattox, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at the age of 79.
A lifelong resident of Oglethorpe County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel A. Brooks and Sara Grimes Brooks. Mrs. Mattox enjoyed singing, playing cards and cooking but most importantly, she enjoyed fellowship with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Mattox and three siblings, John Brooks, Louise Griffith and Polly Wilson.
Survivors include three children, Tammy Moore (Ray), Ryan Mattox (Yvette) and Patty Graham (Bill); six grandchildren, Mallory McElhannon (Greg), Heather Helmreich, Peter Helmreich, Sara Cauley (Daniel), Haley Eiler (Brandon) and Will Graham; two step-grandchildren, Colby Moore and Hannah Moore; four great-grandchildren, Alayna, Scarlett, Ava and Mattox and four siblings, Doris Sanborn, Sam Brooks, Jo Holbrook and Arnall Brooks.
Due to current health concerns, funeral services will be private but a public graveside service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2020 at approximately 2:00 pm at Crawford Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Britt Brooks, Peter Helmreich, Will Graham, Brandon Eiler, Jacob Carmean and Daniel Cauley.
Flowers are welcomed or donations may be made to the Crawford Cemetery Fund at the Crawford City Hall-Attn. Amy Wall, 148 S. Broad Street, Crawford, GA 30630.
