Willodean Tyner (Benton) Hix

Willodean B. Tyner Hix, 89, of Hull, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
She was born in Madison County on December 31, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Addie Lee B. Appleby, but was raised in the home of her grandparents, the late W. Ollie and Ella Estes Benton. She was twice married, to the late Herman E. Tyner (1967) and the late James O. Hix (1999). She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Lee Wheeler (2002), grandson Nathan "Chip" Wheeler (2004) and a great grandson, Cohen Minish (2006). She worked at Athens General Hospital for 15 years, and was employed with the late Dr. Donald L. Branyon, Jr., Dr. William L. Bowen, Jr. and the late Dr. Ellis H. Dixon for 32 years before retiring in 1989. Mrs. Hix was an active member of Hull Baptist Church where was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her son, Larry C. Tyner (Carolyn) of Winterville; daughters Patricia Lynn Baxter (Darrin) of Danielsville, and Suzanne Elaine Ellis of Athens; sister Paula Bradley (Robert) of Apollo Beach, FL; eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two first cousins, Glenda Pound and Betty Burelson; and son-in-law, Nathan Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Hull Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Colbert Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Ellis, Jimmy Ellis, Kelly Farmer, Clifford Wheeler, Paul Minish and Chris Glines. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
