Danielsville - Willie Robert "Bob" Shelnut, 76, died April 25, 2009.
A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late Thomas Henry and Willie Lois Murray Shelnut and was preceded in death by his sisters, Darlene Bridges and Ruth Todd. He retired from the United States Air Force after twenty-two years; then he worked in Washington, DC for many years. After retirement, he moved to a farm in Madison County.
No services are planned at this time.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Adams Shelnut; two sons, Willie Robert Shelnut II of Virginia and Mark Shelnut of Bogart; three brothers, Dan Shelnut of Atlanta, Hoyt Shelnut of Athens and Roger Shelnut of Montgomery, Ala; and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society .
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
