Willie Mae (Taylor) Compton

April 24, 1921 — February 16, 2013

Willie Mae Compton, 91, wife of the late Thomas Dorsey Compton, died Saturday, February 16, 2013.

A native of Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late R. G. and Flora Lockman Taylor. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son Weyman Compton, one brother, two sisters and one grandson. She was a seamstress and member of Center Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughters: Juanita (Bill) Medley of Jackson, GA, Anne (Russell) Smith of Jackson, Evelyn (Bill) Cowart of Lexington, Jennie (Tom) Sturgis of Watkinsville, Jo Harrison of Lexington; sister: Fran (Gene) Stroup of Stephens; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Chuck Tatum officiating. Burial will follow at Center Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Quiet Oaks Nursing Home, 125 Quiet Oak Dr, Crawford, GA 30630.

Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
