Athens, GA - Willie Mae Barrett, 89, died May 17, 2007.
Born in Kannapolis, NC, she was the daughter of the late Saint Paul and Delia Simmons Roberts. She was the widow of William Coile Barrett, Sr. and preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Barrett O'Kelley and son, William Coile Barrett, Jr.
Known affectionately as "Ganny Bill", her talents as musician, artist, seamstress and gardener were surpassed only by her love of family. Mrs. Barrett was a member of East Athens Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Rev. Eddie Bennett and Pastor Ray Wuerzer officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Michael O'Kelley, Bryan Barrett, Ronnie Kittle, Frank Jones, Ronnie Williams and Robert Williams.
Survivors include her daughter, Carole O'Kelley Ferguson of Bogart; grandchildren,
Dr. Lisa Barrett, Melody O'Kelley Bennett, Leslie Barrett Jones, Michael O'Kelley, Terri O'Kelley Kittle and Bryan Barrett; great grandchildren, Matthew, Max and Myles LoParco, Hannah Bennett Cape, Gillian, Ryan, Caitlyn and Dylan Jones, Zac and Judson Kittle and Autumn Barrett; great great granddaughter, Madison Cape; sisters, Inez Bost of Concord, NC and Marie Wheeler of Winston Salem, NC and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
