Watkinsville - William Hoyt Roberts, 83, husband of Myrtis Roberts, died Monday, April 24, 2006 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late William Early and Fannie Scoggins Roberts. He was a member of Word of Life Church, Colbert. He retired from Chicopee Cloth Mill in 1979 after 33 years of service. Mr. Roberts served his country in the US Army during WWII.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and her husband; Marie and Grier Cartey of Watkinsville, sons and their wives; David and Faye Roberts of Crawford, Thomas and Patricia Roberts of Comer, sisters; Louise Daniel, Lois Hoyt, Berta Daniel, Rosanell Emerson, brothers; John Wess Roberts, Lanier Roberts, Odell Roberts and Jimmy Roberts, 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2PM, Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Word of Life Church in Colbert with Revs. Herman Nation and Dennis Kesler officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Bridges, Allen Thomas, James Gurley, Albert Williams, John Waggoner and Ed Waggoner. Visitation will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Flowers will be accepted.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
