Mr. William Edgar "Bill" Young, Jr., 86, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014. Born November 24, 1927 in Decatur, GA. He was a graduate of Druid Hills High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany as part of the occupation restructuring just after WWII. Upon his return from Germany, he married Martha Anne Randle and they resided in Conyers, GA for the remainder of his life where they were happily married for 64 years.
He is survived by his wife Martha Anne Young and their children Mike Young, Mark Young, Matt Young, and Marcie Wilkinson, as well as 9 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild to whom he was to referred to as "Grandpoppy". He is preceded in death by his parents Margaret "Maggie" Greene Young and William Edgar Young, Sr.
Mr. Young was a lifelong member of Conyers Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, boy scout leader, and was active in Sunday school. Always hard at work he delivered milk as a boy for the Tuggle dairy in Atlanta and later made his career as a building supply salesman until retirement. After "retirement" he enjoyed working with his son's company building golf courses for many years and later as a sales associate and fixture at Cowan Ace Hardware in Conyers. He was a self reliant man of many skills including woodworking and gardening. Above all his legacy was in his family and friends and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a fear of squirrels.
A memorial service was held in his honor Monday, September 8 at Conyers Presbyterian Church and family received friends afterwards at a reception in the fellowship hall.
