Danielsville - William Troy Strickland, 82, died January 7, 2006.
A native of Madison County, he was a son of the late C. M. And Elliese Conwell Strickland. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronal Strickland and a daughter, Janice Harrision. He retired from DairyPak and was a member of Moons Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland was a World War II veteran of the United States Army, 36th Infantry Division Company B, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster and Bronze Arrowhead.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, 2006, at 11:00 AM at Moon's Grove Baptist Church. Revs. Dan Fuller, Tony Lee and Ray Jenkins will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery
Survivors include his wife, Irene Burroughs Strickland of Colbert; three children, Denver Strickland, Diane Adams, both of Colbert, Arnal Strickland, and wife, Michelle, of Danielsville; two sisters, Lillie Browning of Colbert and Florence Archer Williams of Athens; brother, Joe Paul Strickland of Colbert; five grandchildren, Denise Cartee Dwayne Harrison, Melissa Martinez, Todd Adams, Sam Strickland; three great grandchildren, Nicole Harrison, Tyler Martinez, and Emily Adams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the World War II Veterans Memorial, c/o Dewey Mann, 2105 21st Street, Nitro, West Virginia 25143.
Pallbearers will be Millard Browning, Alton Browning, Anthony Browning, Lawrence Browning, Ricky Strickland, Junior Horne, Robby Jarrett and C.J. Mason.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Archer, Darrel Browning, Dewey Mann and current and retired employees of DairyPak.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
