Lexington - William Franklin Stevens, Sr., 73, died November 30, 2006.
A native of Oglethorpe County, he was a son of the late Marion Hubert and Henrietta Elizabeth Mathews Stevens. Mr. Stevens retired from Athens Hardware after 38 years and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for over twenty-six years. He was a member, deacon and chorister at Sandy Cross Baptist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Stevens and two brothers, Marion Stevens and Robert Stevens.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 2, 2006, at 2:00 PM at Sandy Cross Baptist Church with Revs. Clayton Sanders and Ray Finger officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cross Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Dolores Stevens; two daughters and son-in-law, Tonja Stevens of Wrens, Tamara and Joey Doolittle of Colbert; son, Billy Stevens of Carlton; brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Dot Stevens of Lexington; three grandchildren, Lacie Doolittle, Doug Stevens and Brad Stevens; great grandchild, Rylie Stevens.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home, and may be reached at the residence of Tamara Doolittle, 66 Pinewood Circle, Colbert, GA.
