William S. (bill) Compton

Comer - Bill Compton, 80, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Norman and Hassie Mae Wood Compton. He retired from Georgia Power after 30 years service where he was a lineman. Bill was a member of Meadow Baptist Church and was an avid gardener. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his sisters; Sara Roberts, Helen Carrington and brother Hal Compton.
Survivors include his wife India Dean Compton; son: Wes (Pam) Dean of Cumming, GA; daughters: Janice (Larry) Partain, Wanda Ray (Steve) Thompson of Eastanollee, GA; brother: Paul Compton of Athens and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at 11AM at Meadow Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Sarna and Rev. Dalton Carrington officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Blake Yeargin, Brandon Yeargin, Ethan Dean, Keaton Thompson, Jeff Brown and Mark Dean.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Meadow Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
