William Wayne Ridgeway

William Wayne “Sarge” Ridgeway, 77 of Statham, GA., passed away Friday, June 21, 2024. A native of Oconee County, Mr. Ridgeway was a son of the late Artica T. and Eunice House Ridgeway. Wayne loved working on race cars, when his brother Lindon Ridgeway drove at Athens Speedway and Winder Barrow Speedway. He worked for 30 years on the roads in Oconee County, then he became the Road Commissioner. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Wayne Ridgeway; his brother, L.J; his sister, Mae Ridgeway; brother, Lindon Ridgeway; sister, Gaynell Kirk Dellinger.

Funeral Services are on Tuesday 11am June 25, 2024, at Lord & Stephens West, Watkinsville, GA Chapel with Pastor Allen Rogers officiating. The family will visit at the funeral home, Monday, June 24, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The interment will be in Bethabara Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Ridgeway of 58 years; sister, Bobbie McDaris; grandkids, Tyler Ridgeway, Katlyn Ridgeway, Allie Ridgeway; great-granddaughter, Blakely Ridgeway; nieces and nephews and brother-in-laws and sister in laws and his dog, Lady.
