William Howard "Bill" Paradise

March 20, 1922 — March 17, 2012

Bill Paradise, 89, died Saturday, March 17, 2012.

A native of Lincolnton, Ga., he was the eldest son of the late Howard Hill and Ethel Gassaway Paradise. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jean Cheney Paradise, most recently by his second wife, Della Smith McFarland Paradise and grandson, William Joseph Stewart. Bill was the owner and operator of Paradise Brothers Logging, served his country in the US Army, a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church and the Lexington Masonic Lodge #158. Bill was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed all types of hunting. Until the last few years of his life, he could always be found in his garden, in the pastures feeding his cows, or visitng his neighbors, community friends, and family.

Survivors include his daughters and sons in law: Bonnie and Jack Morrison of Aiken, SC, Beth and David Garrard of Washington, GA; sister: Elizabeth Hansford Langston of Lexington; grandsons: John Benjamin Stewart III, William Paradise Garrard and great granddaughter, Madelyn Cate Stewart.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 4:00 pm at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Mask officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church.
