Athens, GA - William Moore, Sr., 89, passed away Friday, December 19, 2008.
A native of Memphis, TN, he was a son of the late Bessie Irby and William V. Moore. He was the owner of The Moore the Merrier Farm in Oglethorpe County from 1952 until 1996, when they moved to Athens. Mr. Moore was a member and former elder of Campus View Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 21, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Campus View Church of Christ with Rev. Steve Watson officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah "Tweet" Garrett Moore; sons and daughters-in-law, Walt and Jann Moore of Athens, Dick and Diane Moore of Xenia, OH, John and Susan Moore of Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Joe Robling of Norcross; eight grandchildren, Chuck Moore, Greg Moore, Beth Moore Prewitt, Stephen Moore, April Moore Skelton, Angela Moore, Jenny Robling Williams and John Robling; four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Suzanna Homes of Nigeria, c/o Campus View Church of Christ, 1360 South Lumpkin St., Athens, GA 30605.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
