William Hardy McKinney

August 30, 1925 — February 27, 2015

William Hardy McKinney, 89, died Friday Feb. 27, 2015.

A native of Lincoln County was the son of the late William Guy and Lula Hardy McKinney, and was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, June Price McKinney, brother Emory McKinney and sister Grace McKinney.

A charter member of Green Acres Baptist Church. He was a pilot in World War II, graduated from UGA and spent his career in the University System as County Extension Agent, research at the GA. Mtn. Exp. Station, and in the Extension Dairy Science Department as superintendent of official testing with National Dairy Herd Improvement program (DHIA).

He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Marsha and Dr. Ralph E. Beadle of Baton Rouge, LA, son and daughter-in-law William Price and Susan L. McKinney of Watkinsville, GA. Six grandchildren Christy Ashenfelter of Woodland Hills, CA, Andy and Renee Beadle of Zachary, LA., and Dr. Margaret B. Larrimer and husband Dr. Zac Larrimer of Hot Springs, AR., Clinton Price and Kate McKinney of Kennesaw, GA, Christopher Wade and Heather McKinney of Marietta, GA., and Dr. Kathryn Ashley 'Katie' McKinney of Baton Rouge, LA. Seven great grandchildren, Garrett Lane Beadle, William McKinney Beadle. Aubrey Elizabeth Beadle of Zachary, LA., Abigail Faith McKinney and Jeremiah Price McKinney of Kennesaw, GA., and Peyton Lucas Larrimer and Parker Levi Larrimer of Hot Springs, AR. One sister Jeanne Israel of Gardendale, AL., one sister-in-law Rose Mary Price of Aiken, SC.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Morningside Assisted Living and Homestead Hospice for their kindness and care.

A memorial service will be held at Green Acres Baptist Church Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 3:00pm with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Parrish officiating.
