William James "W.J. " Maddox

Athens, GA - William James (W.J.) Maddox, 75, died December 5, 2013.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late William Theron and Vivian Lois Daniel Maddox. Mr. Maddox was a lifelong resident of Athens and was retired from Barrett Dodge following 35 years of service. He was a member of the Athens Sporting Club and the Buckeye Club and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Edna Sorrow Maddox; sisters, Mary Jo Maddox of Calhoun Falls, SC, Jeanne Pittman and her companion, Bill Meeler and Kathy Jones and her daughter Hope; brother, David Maddox; special nieces and nephews, Donna Gamble, William Johnson, Britney and Anniston Gamble and Bronson Moore; and many nieces and nephews who loved him very much.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Pastor David Maddox officiating. Entombment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Alewine, Dennis Alewine, Harold Medlin, Tommy Sorrow, Steve Alewine and Todd Alewine.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
The family extends a special thanks to Aster and Angels Sitters and his caregivers, Rontunde Downer and her son J.J., Cindy Boyd and her son Jake, Kimberly Mendoza and Kayla Castillo.
