William Marks "Will" Towles III

William Marks "Will" Towles, III, 40, died Thursday, September 21, 2017. Born in Athens, GA on February 3, 1977, Will grew up in Snellville and graduated from Brookwood High School. Prior to college he was a member of the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a graduate of Valdosta State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. While there, he was awarded a music scholarship while marching as a member of the Blazin' Brigade Marching Band. He was also a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He worked for Smith and Carson Insurance, Atlanta, GA, Larry Cole Insurance Agency, Watkinsville, GA and Colbert Pharmacy, Colbert, GA. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Athens, GA. Survivors include his wife: Molly Burgess Towles, Watkinsville; son: William Marks "Liam" Towles, IV of Watkinsville; father and mother: William Marks Towles, Jr. and Jane Stancil Towles of Watkinsville; sisters: Lydia (Ken) Hood of Flowery Branch, GA, Elizabeth (Matt) Sammons of Social Circle, GA; father and mother-in-law: Martin and Janet Burgess of Washington, GA; sisters-in-law: Mandy (Brent) Marable of Watkinsville and their children: Jack Durham and John David Marable: Maria (Joel) Walker of Omaha, NE and their children: Scout and Robin Walker. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Bill and Nora Towles and maternal grandparents; Representative Frank and Betty Stancil. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 2PM at Friendship Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tara W. Bulger officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Huey, Charley Hearn, Duncan Harden, Boaz Josman, Elmer Stancil, Garett Stancil, Martin Stancil, Jason White and Frank White. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall after the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any First American Bank & Trust location to the Liam Towles Education Fund. The family wishes to thank Compassionate Care Hospice and Oconee Area Home Care for their kindness and care throughout Will's illness.
