Athens - William Frederick Holthaus, (Bill), 93, died Monday, March 8, 2010 after a long decline due to Alzheimer's disease. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth.
Born February 3, 1918 in Trenton, NJ, Bill and his wife Ruth lived most of their lives on Long Island, NY. They owned several businesses and he was an active member of his church, a volunteer fireman and a member of the Masons. After they retired, they moved to Georgia to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his son, William R. Holthaus, Macon and a daughter, Ruth Holthaus Ray, Bishop. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael Holthaus, NY, Mary Ann Holthaus, Juliette, Lisa Holthaus, Athens, L. Andy Ray, Braselton, Stacy Ray Denny, Atlanta and five great grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at a later date.
