William Dan Grider

William Dan Grider, 72, died March 7, 2012.
A native of Atlanta, GA, he was a son of the late John Benton and Lena Florence Leonard Grider. He was preceded in death by three siblings, Betty Willis, Leonard Grider and Valeria Henry.
Mr. Grider lived in the Statham area for the last five years and was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church. There he was active with the Word Bearers Sunday School Class, the Prince Avenue Baptist XYZ Group and enjoyed volunteering as a greeter. Mr. Grider was a member of the Athens West Camp of Gideon's International. He retired from the insurance claims industry and served in the Army National Guard.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST, Bogart, with Revs. Bill Ricketts and Richard Coppage officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 pm at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens, Conyers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Oglesby Grider; three children, Robert "Robby" Leonard (Sherry) Grider, Danica Grider Martinson and Amanda Grider (Andy) Gindlesperger, all of Statham; sister, Doris Goodbee of Oak Ridge, TN; grandchildren, Rhianna Grider, Joshua Grider and Katelyn Grider, all of Statham, Karissa Martinson of Angier, NC and Gabrielle (David) Edgemon of Fayetteville, NC; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00pm and 6:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
