William "Bill" White

William Ernest “Bill” White, 83, of Athens, died on Friday, May 24, 2024.

Born in Columbus, GA, he was a son of the late Huel Alvin White, Sr. and Martha Ferrell White. Bill graduated from Columbus High School in 1958 and then from the University of Georgia in 1963. While at the University of Georgia, he was a member of the SAE fraternity. He was an Engineering Geologist for the Soil Conservation Service (USDA) for 31 years and then worked for 11 years for the State Water and Soil Commission. Bill was a longtime member of Athens First United Methodist Church and was also a member of Thompson’s Farm.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Golden White; daughters and son-in-law, Kimberly White Sullivan, Laura White Barksdale and Addison Andrew Barksdale, Sr.; grandchildren, Trent Sullivan (Olivia), Sarah Sullivan Lenard (Patton), Ferrell Sullivan, Molly Sullivan, Collier Barksdale, Morgan Barksdale and Addison Barksdale, Jr.; great-grandchild, Ember Sullivan; siblings, Huel Alvin White, Jr. (Sally) and Janice White Hudson (Ron); nephews, H.A. White, III (Lisa) and Wade White (Lynn) and niece, Ginny Ledbetter (Kevin).

Memorial services will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at Lord and Stephens, East.
