William Harvey Compton

William Harvey Compton, 71, of Stephens, GA passed away Monday, May 7, 2012.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Harvey was the son of Ruby Lee Bingham Compton and the late Theodore Roosevelt (T.R.) Compton. He was born on March 21, 1941 in Crawford, GA and graduated from Oglethorpe County High School in 1959. He married Barbara Jean (Bobbie) Watson on January 12, 1962. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. On May 1, 1981 they started their own business, H B & Sons Auto Flatteners and Enterprizes. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie, and two sons Chris (Wanda) and Tony (Cindy). He is also survived by his mother, Ruby Lee Compton of Stephens; his sister, Judy (Stanley) Thomas of the Sanford Community in Madison County; sister in law Billie (Norman) Vinson, Austell; two grandsons, Alex & Zach Compton of Lexington; David Brown, nephew, of Stephens and other nieces & nephews; and by his loyal and beloved H B & Sons family.
Visitation will be at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. Compton will be Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 11 am at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Pastor John Parker officiating with burial following at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dr. Leon Dalton, Marvin Howard, Billy Peterman, Rob Postin, Joe Gene Hayes, and Jimmy Bradberry. Honorary Pallbearers are Jimmy Hayes, Roddy Sturdivant, Mario Delgado, Earnest Merriweather, Scott Fern, Michael Fields, Al Colquitt, and John H. Buckman.
Flowers are welcome or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
