Wayne Silvey Griffeth, 78, of Dewy Rose, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
Born in Athens, he was a son of the late Alton White Griffeth, Sr. and Lilly Clyde Silvey Griffeth. Mr. Griffeth attended the University of Georgia and worked as a Detective at Athens Police Department, Washington Police Department, Elberton Sheriff’s Department and Monroe Police Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fast cars and motorcycles and was an avid fan of NASCAR and UGA football. Most importantly, Mr. Griffeth was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alton Griffeth, Jr. and Ronnie Griffeth; son, Michael Davis; mother-in-law, Joyce Parker and sister-in-law, Patricia Parker.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Sandra Dove Griffeth; son, Vince (Charlotte) Griffeth (Leslie); six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sandy Griffeth; brother-in-law, Rod Dove (Cindy) and two nieces, Elaine Mathis and Robin Griffeth.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 29, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
