Waymon L. “Wally” Ash, 75, husband of 52 years to Betty Sue Page Ash, died on Monday, March 13, 2023.
Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Ash and Hazel Juanita Elder Ash. Wally graduated from Oconee County High School in 1966 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia in 1971. He was the owner and operator of Ash Plumbing and member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a longtime worker with the Preschool Ministry where he was affectionately known as “Papa Wally”.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two children: Mike (Angie) Ash and Amanda (Whit) Minshew; sisters: Linda (Randy) Haygood, Gloria (Tony) Faulkner and Beverly (David) Shivar; grandchildren: Jacob (Emily) Ash, Samuel (Esther) Ash, Anna Ash, Kate Ash, Elsie Minshew and Henry Minshew and one great grandchild: Jesse Ash.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 2PM at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service as well as following the service.
