Waymon Kelley, 79, of Winterville, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born August 26, 1936, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kelley of Colbert. He was preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Kelley of Athens and great grandson Jaxson Morris.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Gwen Kelley of Winterville; daughter, Wanda Llewallyn and her husband Jon of Winterville; son, Mike Kelley and his wife Kim of Winterville; grandchildren, Kevin (Ashleigh) Llewallyn, Kelley (Joseph) Benkoski, Heather (James) Morris, Brooke Kelley; great grandchildren, Bridgette Llewallyn, Ally Morris and Brantley Benkoski.
A devoted family man, Weymon loved to fish and vacation at the beach. He was a member of East Athens Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and teacher of the Men's Sunday School Class for over 30 years. He was retired as owner of S&K Bike Shop in downtown Athens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Lord and Stephens, EAST. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM at East Athens Baptist Church with Revs. Ray Wuerzer and George Ormsbee officiating. Graveside services will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Greg Patton, Brian Patton, Mike Lee, Lyle Malaier, Tim Mathews and Kirt Williford. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class.
The family would like to thank Homestead Hospice for all the care that was given during the time of his illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to East Athens Baptist Church Building Fund.
