Walter "Ryon" Raymond Benton

Walter Raymond “Ryon” Benton of Watkinsville, GA, passed away May 19, 2023.

Ryon was preceded in death by his dad, Leo Edward “Eddie” Benton and stepdad, John Wolfe. He is survived by his mother, Kathy Wolfe; brother, Lee Benton; 2 sisters: Alice Moreland and Klaire Winslett (Eric); 3 nephews and 2 nieces.

Ryon was a graduate of Commerce High School and went on to earn a B.A. in Journalism and a Master’s in Rehab Counseling.

He was an avid sports fan, with a die hard love for the GA Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.  He was also a force to be reckoned with on the golf course.

Ryon loved the Lord and was a fiercely loyal son, brother, and friend.

Our hearts are broken, but his body is healed.

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as Eagles."  Isaiah 40:31.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 22 at Lord and Stephens, Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Rd., Watkinsville, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Eric Winslett, Will Winslett, Jack Winslett, Scott Pearson, Alex Lord, Brent Leach, and Jack Leach.
