Walter White

Walter Baxton White, 94, husband of Martha Frye White, died Monday, January 29, 2018. Born in Lavonia, GA, he was the son of the late Judge Reese White and Arlie Maude Brown White and father to the late Karen Elizabeth White Johnson. Mr. White retired from Georgia Power after 41 years as the Waynesboro District Manager. He had served on the Clarke County Tax Assessors Board and was a member and Deacon of Green Acres Baptist Church where he served as chairman on several committees. In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons: Walter Alan (Suzanne) White of Winterville, Timothy Keith White of Richmond, CA; sisters: Lula Belle Burden of Hartwell, and Gatha Harvey of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 2PM with Rev. Darryl Mathis officiating. Entombment will be held at 12:30PM prior to the service at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Green Acres Baptist Church.
