Walter Edward Long Jr

Walter Edward Long, Jr., 78, died July 27, 2012.
A native of Carlton, GA, he was a son of the late Jimmie Lou Lane and Walter Edward Long, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances L. Long and son, Steven Lamar Long. Mr. Long was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He retired from the United States Postal Service after forty-four years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will be in Carlton Cemetery.
Survivors include two children, Susan Diann Long of Toccoa and Angela Delores Long Sheriff of Franklin, NC; brother, John David (Celeste) Long of Conyers; sister, Anne Long (Thomas) Eads of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Lindsay Diann Foster of Toccoa, Karla Lazarus and Michelle Sheriff, both of Carnesville, Samantha Christi Long of Hiram; ten great grandchildren, Austin Foster, Alissa Foster, Kyle Dyer, all of Toccoa, Bryson Lazarus, Jordan Lazarus and Hannah Lazarus, all of Carnesville, Quinton Woody of Eastanollee, Whitney Simmons of Toccoa, Haylee Pruitt and Kacin Pruitt, both of Athens; many nieces and nephews; faithful canine companion, Chipper Bush Long.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
