Athens - Walter Thomas Kesler, 72, husband of 50 years to Faye Grimes Kesler, died Sunday, October 3, 2010 at his residence.
Born in Crawford, he was the son of the late Walter Thomas Kesler, Sr. and Biddie Adkins Kesler. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Merk and sister, Aileen Hewell. Tommy retired from Salloum Construction as a Equipment Supervisor after 37 years, was a member of The Church At Southside and served his country in the US Navy for 4 years. He loved to fish and hunt, especially squirrels.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a son and daugthter in law; Walter Thomas "Tommy" (Teresa) Kesler III of Athens; daughter and son in law: Diana Kesler (Richard) Baker of Athens; sister: Ouida Stone of Comer; brother: Donnie (Jean) Kesler of Elberton; grandchildren: Chad Merk of Maysville and Lauren Kesler of Athens.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11AM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Apostolic Church. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
