Wallace Hill, 81, died October 28, 2014.
A native of Oakland, CA, he lived most of his life in Georgia and resided in Athens for the last fifteen years. He was a son of the late E. C. and Ava Malaier Hill and was preceded in death by a son, John Wallace Hill, Jr. and brother, David Malaier Hill.
Mr. Hill was born with limited vision, but was able to lead a very productive and normal life personally and professionally. He graduated from Pineview High School in Wilcox County and earned his B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Georgia. He graduated from John Marshall School of Law in Atlanta, and in spite of limited vision he was able to pass the Bar Exam on his first attempt. Mr. Hill retired from the USDA after thirty years of employment and was an active member of Heritage Fellowship Church.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens, Lavonia.
Survivors include his wife, Martha York Hill; children, Bob York (Shannon) of Winterville and Beth York of Greensboro; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
