W. David Williams, 87, of Athens, GA, died May 6, 2005 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at First United Methodist Church.
Mr. Williams was a native of Sylvania, GA and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Masters degree in Animal Nutrition and Microbiology in 1941. He served in the army during World War II.
Mr. Williams enjoyed a long career in the poultry industry, retiring from Perdue Farms, of Salisbury, MD in 1983, as Director of Research and Nutrition. His involvement with the industry spanned design and construction of feed manufacturing and hatcheries, managing grain purchase and storage, manufacture and delivery of formula feeds to producers at the farm level. After retiring from Perdue, Mr. Williams worked as a consultant for companies concerned with feed additives used in the poultry industry.
Mr. Williams was active for many years in church choirs and had recently enjoyed membership in the Fellowship Class at First United Methodist Church. In retirement he always enjoyed helping friends and family with painting and small construction projects. Before his most recent illness he had been painting at his grandsonís new home. A favorite past time had been helping with Habitat for Humanity homes.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marion H. Williams, his children include: one son and daughter-in-law Joseph H. and Julie Williams of Jacksonville, FL, daughters Krista and husband Wayland Lamar of Augusta, Susan and husband Clarke Avant of Sandersville. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive him.
