W. L. Guy, 83, died April 7, 2009.
A native of Alabama, he was a son of the late Bill Douglas and Mary Julian Shoffiett Guy and was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Guy Lukers. He was a retired butcher, having worked for thirty-five years and A & P and for fifteen years at Bell's Food Store. Mr. Guy was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Rev. Ed Walden officiating. Entombment will be at Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, of fifty-eight years, Virginia Guy; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dana and Terri Guy of Athens, Paul and Karen Guy of Arnoldsville; two sisters, Frances Finley of Slapout, AL and Jeanele Mathis of Dallas, TX; two brothers, Thomas Guy of Tampa, FL and Clayton Guy of Alexander City, AL; grandchildren, Danielle Guy of Athens, Emmie Guy and Christopher Guy of Arnoldsville, Jeremiah and Malinda Lukers of Franklin, PA and William Lukers of Athens; two great grandchildren, Jackson Lukers of Franklin, PA and Eden Lukers of Athens.The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
