Virginia C. Smith

Virginia C. Smith, 76, passed away July 28, 2015.

A native of Comer, GA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Annie Sue Clements. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Edward, William Eldridge, James Everett and sister, Hilda Ruth.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Harry B. Smith; daughter, Michelle (Curt) Bennett; brother, Robert Lee (Harriet) Clements, Jr.; sister-in-law, Laura Jean Clements; grandchildren, Victoria (Austin) Burris, Jaclyn, Caroline and Meredith Bennett; nieces, Carlene Clements, Betty Martin, Debbie (Kevin) Turner and Jan (Alan) Wilson; nephew, Donnie (Carol) Clements; a number of cousins.

Mrs. Smith lived in the Athens/Winterville area for the last fifty-four years. She attended Prince Avenue Baptist Church. She graduated from Madison County High School, worked at General Time, and retired from Veratec Inc. (formerly Kendall Co.). She loved traveling, working in her flower beds and spending time with her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 30 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 31, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Brother Ray Finger officiating. Interment will follow at Athens Memory Gardens.

The family would like to thank Nurse Lori and the St. Mary's Hospice Staff and additional caregivers, Janelle Johnson and Sandra Prince.

Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
