Vincent "Vince" Richard Laviano, age 90, of Athens, GA, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Vince was born on May 2, 1934, in Brooklyn, NY to Richard and Mary Laviano. He lived a life dedicated to his faith and family. A graduate of Manhattan College, Vince received his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering in 1958. He had a fulfilling career in this field before retiring from IBM in 1998. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Barbara for 41 years, and together they built a legacy of love and faith that will continue through generations. Vince served faithfully in his local church, the Church in Athens, where he cared for and cherished his fellow members of the Body of Christ. His deep Christian faith guided every aspect of his life, and he was known for shepherding new believers, opening his home for fellowship, and sharing his portion of Christ with all who met him. Vince will be remembered for his “grandpa jokes,” laughter, and his ability to show his love of family in everything he did. He touched countless lives, and his wisdom and guidance will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Laviano, née King, and their six children: Richard (Linda) Laviano of Raleigh, NC, Linda J. Laviano of Middleburg, FL, Robert (Lisa) Laviano of Hollywood, FL, Christi McDonald of Manchester, GA, Debbie (Calvin) Louie of Athens, GA, and Brad (Laura) Langford of Watkinsville, GA. He is also survived by his sister Marie (Don) Taravella of Houston, TX. Besides his love for the Lord, Vince's greatest joy was his family, including 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of faith and love. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home in Athens, GA. Visitation and a short service will be from 10:00 am-12:00 pm followed by a graveside service at Athens Memory Gardens at 12:30 pm. A celebration of life including lunch will take place at 2:00 pm at The Student Station, in Athens, GA.
