Vernon Russell Randall

June 29, 1923 — March 7, 2015

Vernon Russell "Randy" Randall, age 91, of Athens, GA died March 7, 2015.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Grace Baptist Church, Ellijay, GA with Pastor Jeff Walls and Rev. Michael Collis officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the church from 10:00 AM until service time.

Vernon was born in Flint, Michigan on June 29, 1923 and joined the Navy in 1943. He was a Motor Machinist Mate Second Class on a US Navy Tug Boat.

After an honorable discharge from the Navy, Vernon attended Owosso Bible College in Owosso, Michigan. He served as pastor for over 50 years in the (Pilgrim Holiness) Wesleyan Church. He moved to different towns in the state of Michigan with his family serving small churches to spread of Gospel of Jesus. Vernon is known for his beautiful singing voice and the love for song telling the story of Jesus.

Vernon also worked for General Motors at the Fisher Body Plant on Saginaw Road in Flint, Michigan for over 30 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Norma Louise Hutchinson Randall, who was his partner for 65 years. During their marriage they raised four daughters.

In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, Seeley Alanzo Randall and Venora Bell Vallad-Randall, his sisters, Mae Randall-Carlson and Frances Randall-Shaw, as well as his daughter, Mary Margaret Randall-Ackerman.

Vernon is survived by his 3 daughters, Carol Ann Randall-Johnson (Warren) of Ellijay, GA, Linda Sue Randall-Heller (Pastor David) of Athens, GA and Louise Norma Randall-Adams of Canton, GA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and 3 nephews... .and one special friend who kept his heart and spirit happy, Jeanette McCurry of Ellijay, GA.

Vernon loved his family and was proud of each of them. He has taken a piece of his family's heart to heaven with him. He will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, c/o St. Mary's Health Care System, 1230 Baxter St., Athens, GA 30606.

Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
