Vernie Belle Miller

Vernie Legg Miller, age 86, of Athens, GA,  died May 12, 2021 after a brief illness.  She was beloved by her family for her kind heart, thoughtfulness, and strong Christian faith.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, Todd. Her surviving family includes sister-in-law, Janie Miller, Knoxville, TN; sons and daughters in-law Todd (Dianne), Gainesville, GA and Kevin (Becky) Athens, GA; daughter and son-in-law Missy and Jay Bowden, Eatonton, GA; grandchildren Allison Van Matre, Matthew Miller, Morgan Miller, Trevor and Logan Bowden; and great grandchildren Walker and Miller Van Matre and Porter and Meadow Miller.

Vernie was born in Memphis,TN to parents Cliff and Vernie Legg and graduated from East High School. She met her husband at Memphis State College and they married on New Year's Day 1954.  They lived primarily in Memphis and Atlanta while raising their three children and then when her husband retired from a career with Sears, they moved to the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida in 1990. In 2012, they moved to Athens, GA to be closer to family.

Vernie attended Green Acres Baptist Church in Athens and thoroughly enjoyed her Sunday school friends there.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, May 19 at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery chapel in Milledgeville, GA.
