Vera Morrison Whitfield of Ila, Georgia died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 , at Athens Regional Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Madison County, Georgia, October 22, 1934, to Marion Morrison and Nobie Haggard Morrison, she was of the Methodist faith. She was a widow of the late James W. Whitfield.
She is survived by her sisters, Patricia McGhee and Jenny (Bob) Clifton. sister-in-laws, Mary Jo Morrison and Celia Morrision. She was predeceased by her brothers, the late Douglas Morrison and Billy Morrison. Although she had no biological children, she mothered many in a very loving, nurturing way throughout her lifetime. She was always there to support her nieces and nephews in whatever way she could. Her surviving nieces and nephews include Scott Morrison, Angie Emery, Amy Christensen, Mitzi Morgan, Stacey Burkhalter, Eddie Morrison, Christy Nunley and Cory Morrison.
We will all miss her dearly but we have so many wonderful memories to help us through the days ahead.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Lord and Stephens in Danielsville from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.
The funeral services will be 4:00PM, Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Wesley Chapel Church with the burial in Danielsville Memory Gardens.
Flowers are optional or donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
