Velma Bramlett Rochester, 96, wife of the late Ralph Eli Rochester, died Sunday, December 30, 2012.
A native of Tiger, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lawrence and Lassie Holcomb Bramlett. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Rochester was also preceded in death by her son: Charles Eli Rochester; daughter: Betty Jean Rochester; brothers: Odie C. Bramlett, Wilma Dalton Bramlett; sister: Ola Bramlett Rochester. Mrs. Rochester was a very active member of Winterville Baptist Church. She was the teacher and secretary of the Marion Coile Sunday School Class and member of the Keenage Group, Winterville Silver Hair Club and the Beaver Dam Volunteer Fire Department Women's Auxiliary. She was affectionately known in the Beaver Dam Creek Community as MeeMaw.
Survivors include her children and their spouses: James Henry (Jeanette) Rochester, Martha (William G.) Berryman, Christine (Sidney) Christopher; brother: James Reid (Thelma) Bramlett; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 3PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Revs. Phil Wages and Ray Wuerzer officiating. Burial will follow at Winterville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Marion Coile Sunday School Class, Steve, Nathan, Mike, Terry and Jimmy Rochester. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 1 until 3.
The family wishes to express a great thanks to Stephanie Watson and Carla Johnson for her care while she was at home and to Uni-Health Care Heritage of Athens and St. Mary's Hospice.
