Vance Willard Boring

July 5, 1930 — April 1, 2013

Vance Willard Boring, 82, died April 1, 2013.
A native of Cleveland, TN, he was a son of the late James Oscar and Essie L. Boring and was preceded in death by his sister, Ella Sue Eldridge and a brother, Ervin Boring.
Mr. Boring was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He retired after forty-two years from DuPont and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon. Mr. Boring will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST, with Revs. Buddy Parrish and Fred Rowell officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Phyllis Kibble Boring; two sons, Alan (Debbie) Boring of Charleston, SC and Randy (Sandy) Boring of Colbert, GA; brother, Lawrence (Vestal) Boring of Benton, TN; grandchildren, Chris (Denise) Boring, Dustin (Abigail) Boring, all of Des Moines, IA; Amanda (Tyler) Christensen of Dayton, OH, Savannah Boring of Orlando, FL and Hunter Boring of Colbert, GA; great grandchildren, Ezra Boring and Solomon Boring.
Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Green Acres Baptist Church Growth Fund, 2085 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605.
