Travis Dewitt Jett

February 21, 1928 — May 3, 2012

Mr. Travis Dewitt Jett passed away at St. Mary's Hospice House on May 3, 2012 following a period of declining health. Mr. Jett was born on February 21, 1928 in Decatur Alabama to George and Rosie Jett. Mr. Jett proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII, he retired from EPA in Athens. He was a faithful member of Mars Hill Baptist Church and a member of the Joy Sunday School Class.
Mr. Jett is preceded in death by his parents as well as a grandson Travis Joey Powers, brother Jackie Don Jett, and sisters Gertrude Polk, Mildred Shelton, Carolyn Jett Hames. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Holland Jett; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Lynn and Allen Bouska, Lisa Ann Jett and fiancé James Clay, Susie Dianne and Kenny Searcy; grandchildren, Lori Bouska , Allison Bouska, Caitlin Rose Powers, Isaac Alva Searcy, Caleb Eli Searcy, and Naomi Holland Searcy; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis and Pete Jett, Eugene and Linda Jett, Bobby Ray Jett, Dwight and Patty Jett, Hoyt and Bobby Jean Jett; sisters and brother-in-law, Flora Nell and Joe Gregg, and Glenda Thompson.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Mars Hill Baptist Church on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM with the Revs. Dan Fuller and Steve Bingham officiating with words from Eli Searcy and Caitlin Powers. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Flower will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, Mars Hill Baptist Church, or Briarwood Baptist Church.
