Tony H. Young, 55, of Athens, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2018. Tony was born in Seneca, SC. He was son of Harold Young and late Frances Whitfield Young. In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Ellis Young; daughters: Adelaine Young and Calla Young; and sister, Michelle Young-Smith of Walhalla, SC.
His love of music and playing drums brought Tony to Athens shortly after high school. He played in several rock bands over the years. He worked at Mean Bean Mexican Restaurant where he met his wife, Jennifer, of 25 years. He managed multiple locations before he went on to own the 5 Points location. After cutting his signature long hair, his most recent career was Compliance Director for Barberitos Franchising.
Besides making music and making people laugh, Tony loved to travel and go to concerts with his girls, ride mountain and road bikes with friends, and watch sports of all kinds, especially the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
The memorial service will be held Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Lord and Stephens West in Watkinsville. The family will receive friends at the Southern Brewing Company in Athens immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation who took the family on a truly memorable trip in May, any charity that fights colon cancer, or the GivingGrid (Tony Young – Stage 4 Colon Cancer by Jennifer Roth) that has been set up to support his bright, hardworking daughters with their college education.
Lord and Stephens, West is in charge of arrangements.
