Mark Anthony “Tony” Sudduth, 52, of Watkinsville, died on July 2, 2023.
A native of Atlanta, Tony moved to Athens to attend the University of Georgia and lived in Oconee County for 27 years. Fittingly, he was a lifelong Bulldawgs fan and played football himself through high school. He also loved the Atlanta Braves. Tony was a devoted and involved father who coached his son’s baseball, football, and basketball teams. He worked for GroSouth for 27 years and was a passionate horticulturist with a talented green thumb. He was a member of the Catholic Center at the University of Georgia. He will be remembered as a comedian, great friend, and wonderful father.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Sudduth, and two sisters.
Tony is survived by his wife, Catherine Sudduth; their two children, Sarah Sudduth and Owen Sudduth; his mother, Yolanda Sudduth; siblings Tonya Sudduth and Todd Sudduth; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8 at Lord and Stephens, West Chapel at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Oconee Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made in Tony's memory to the State Botanical Garden of Georgia .
