Todd Motter Miller, age 84, of Athens, GA, devoted husband, loving father, and follower of Christ, died September 2, 2016 after a long illness. He was beloved by his family for his generosity, hearty laugh and quick wit.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Vernie; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Janie Miller, Raleigh, NC; son and daughter-in-law Todd and Dianne Miller, Gainesville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Miller and Becky Dodd, Athens, GA; daughter and son-in-law Missy and Jay Bowden, Eatonton, GA; granddaughter Allison Van Matre, grandsons Matthew Miller, Morgan Miller, Trevor and Logan Bowden, great grandsons Walker and Miller Van Matre and Porter Miller.
Born in Canton, Ohio, he moved to Memphis, TN at an early age and graduated from Central High School in Memphis and Memphis State College in 1953 with a degree in Business. He was president of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity at Memphis State. He served two years in the US Navy and was honorably discharged with a rank of Lieutenant (LTJG). He spent the majority of his 35 year business career at Sears as a Comptroller and retired in Chicago in 1989. In 1990 he and Vernie retired to the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida where they resided until 2012 when they moved to Athens, GA to be closer to family.
Todd and Vernie were longtime members of North Lake Presbyterian Church in Lady Lake. Todd was an avid golfer, and very proud of his three holes in one. He also enjoyed his time at the 19th hole. He loved to play bridge and watch all types of sports, especially Georgia Tech football.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Monday, September 12 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home in Bogart, GA, with burial following at 2:30 PM at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to North Lake Presbyterian Church - Operation Homebound, 975 Rolling Acres Rd., Lady Lake, FL 32159
