Todd Denton

Michael Todd Denton, 57, of Athens, died September 20, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Regional.

He was a son of Joyce Denton Register Irby of Athens and the late Edward Denton, Jr.

Todd grew up in Oconee County, Georgia, and moved to Athens, Georgia when he was 20. He started his career with Oconee County Sheriff’s department. After moving to Athens, he worked at Athens Regional Medical Center for 24 years and was currently employed with BOS Security as a Lieutenant.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his children, Alex Denton and Heather Mathews; sisters, Brenda (Alton) Brooks and Donna Denton (Eddie Barnett); brother, Tim (Carrie) Denton; grandchildren, Chandler Mathews, Hunter Mathews and Elijah Jarrells; former wife, Shelley Black; 2 step children, Brittany and Brandi Long and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Park.  Due to Covid 19, masks are requested.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family.
