Timothy Rice Brown, 70, of Hull, Georgia, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 3:00 PM Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial will follow at Hull Baptist Church Cemetery with Timothy McQuaid Brown officiating at graveside. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Tim was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Coile and Lillie Rice Brown on February 1, 1946. He went to school at Madison County and Rabun Gap School. He married Celia D. Brown on September 8, 1979 in Mineral Wells, Texas. He built a career joining his father in the business of Smith, Boley, Brown. He served his community as an Athens Clark County Sheriff's Deputy and drove school buses for Athens Christian School and Madison County Schools (lovingly referred to as "lead foot" by many). He was a Vietnam veteran and served in the US Navy aboard the USN CVA 64 Aircraft Carrier Constellation and US Naval Base Pearl Harbor, earning the rank of Petty Officer Second Class (E5) in four years of service. He was a helicopter pilot and loved to share the experience of flying with others. Tim flew over 3,000 hours in Hiller Helicopters in North Georgia for personal enjoyment and supporting non-profit work. He was a member of Hull Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Coile and Lillie Rice Brown. He is survived by his wife, Celia Brown; son, Timothy McQuaid Brown, who is a missionary pilot-mechanic and Baptist minister. Tim is also survived by his older brother, Lavonne Brown of Free Union, VA and his younger brother, Titus Brown of Athens, Georgia and their families.
