Thomas Clarence “Tom” Landrum, 95, husband of 19 years to Hazel Sanders Landrum, died Saturday, March 5, 2022.
Born in Tignall, GA he was the son of the late Robert Lee Landrum and Birdie Mae Loyd Landrum and was also preceded in death by his first wife of more than 50 years, Etharene Chandler Landrum. Tom proudly served his county in the US Navy during WWII and retired as a Machinist’s Mate Senior Chief Petty Officer. During his time in the Navy, he served aboard the USS O’Hare, USS Soley, USS Monongahela, USS Cadmus and the USS Mississippi and received the Atlantic Theater Medal, European African Middle Easter Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Navy Expeditionary Medal. Following his military service, he worked for the Richard Russell Research Center where he retired as a Shift Supervisor in the Steam Plant.
Survivors in addition to his wife include one son: Tommy (Sharon) Landrum; stepdaughter: Melissa (Darrin) Cain and three grandchildren: James “J.T.” Landrum, Nick Cain and Faith Cain.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 3PM at Athens Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Darrell Woods, Mark Crawford, David King, Jason Crawford, R.D. Walker and Darrin Cain. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the funeral home.
