Thomas Vernon Melton

Thomas Vernon "Papa Tom" Melton, age 69 of Colbert, GA, died Sunday, April 17, 2016. Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Robert G. Melton and Edna Merle Payne Melton. Mr. Melton was a retired painting contractor and member of New Covenant Worship Center. He loved dirt track racing in his car "Judge", #71. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Elaine Melton. Survivors include three daughters: Kimberly Keenan of Colbert, Melissa (Danny) Weber of Baton Rouge, LA, Amy (Jeremie) Tank of Colbert; brother: Steve Melton of Statham; seven grandchildren: Kyle Melton, Amanda McCann, Andrew Blackwell, Heather Starns, Phillip Starns, Jr., Ashleigh Barker, Brittany Blackwell and five great grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Gentiva Hospice. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 1PM at Lord & Stephens Danielsville Chapel with Pastor Howard Conine officiating. Burial will follow at Hull Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steven Melton, Andrew Blackwell, Phillip Starns Jr., Shawn Barker, Daniel Heard and Dennis Huth.
