Thomas J. "Jerry" Haas, III, died Friday, May 27, 2016. A native of Atlanta, he was the son of Thomas J. Haas, Jr. and Bonnie Little Haas. He was the Pastor of Missions and Evangelism at Prince Avenue Baptist Church for 17 years. Jerry was a talented man but his main focus in life was not himself. He truly lived Acts 20:24, "But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God." Even after his initial diagnosis of brain cancer in 2012, Jerry continued in the task God had called him to, deriving his greatest joy from sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with all he met and training others to do the same. Survivors include his wife, Kay Vickers Haas; sons: Blake (Allison) Haas of Athens, Alan (Glenda) Haas of Monroe, Thomas (Liz) Haas, IV of Hull; brother: Terre Haas of Fayetteville, GA; sisters: Cathy Baskin of Springfield, VA, Angela Chadbourne of Arlington, VA; grandchildren, Avery, Nolan, Trevor, Jeremiah, and Grace. A casual memorial service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Prince Avenue Baptist Church at 4PM with Rev. Bill Ricketts officiating. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 30, 2016 at 12:00PM at Oconee Memorial Park.
