Dr. Thomas Daniel Aaron, 88, died peacefully on Friday, February 12, 2016. He was born on September 2, 1927; the sixth child of Thomas D. and Bessie Brown Aaron in Royston, GA. He is survived by one sister Kathleen Edwards (96) of Gainesville. Dr. Aaron was active in the Masons and served in the US Army-both active and reserves, retiring as Master Sergeant (E-8) after 18 years. His career was mostly spent at the University of Georgia from which he received his BS and Masters and later received his PhD from Texas A & M. Upon his retirement in 1987, he was awarded the titles of Professor Emeritus and Associate Director Emeritus of the Georgia Extension Service. He was twice married, first to Patsy Rice who preceded him in death. He then married Gwen Hendrix who survives him. He is also survived by five children: Patrice Luke of Danielsville, Cindy Hayes-Colley of Colbert, Dr. Thomas J. (Susan) of Washington, DC, Jeffrey (Leigh Anne) of Oglethorpe County and adopted son Bryan Brown of Watkinsville; four grandchildren: A.J. Hayes, Brandon (Casey) Hayes, Jody (Ashley) Luke, Jason (Casey) Luke and two great grandchildren: Graeme Hayes and Charley Belle Luke. He was an active member of Young Harris Memorial Methodist Church where a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2PM with Rev. David Wofford officiating.
